AJ's Birthday

Well, as if AJ didn't get the best birthday gift ever this year, a beautiful baby boy just days before his birthday, we made sure to surprise him the day before with a cupcake cake, a birthday crown, birthday girl plates, and pin the tail on the donkey... Unfortunately only the cake and plates were put to use, haha. Life is beyond exciting with a 2 week old. Party hard, baby. A big thank you to Auntie Zibba and Uncle Sean for bringing the essentials. We celebrated again with Adam's family the day of with yet more cake, more presents and a well behaved baby boy =)

Happy Birthday to the most amazing daddy out there! We love you to the moon & back!

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

It's OK to use the baby as a table, right?

Some BUNNY (Everybody) Loves You, Cooper James

We survived our first holiday with nugget! We were still a bit late, despite being in a frantic rush in the morning to get to Adam's grand parent's. Coop fell asleep in the car on the way, so we left him in the car seat when we got there because breakfast was being put on the table. Of course as soon as we sat down to eat, he woke up and wanted to be fed. I tried pacifying him by holding him and trying to eat at the same time, but he wasn't having any of it. I had to excuse myself from breakfast, and spend the next hour (all of breakfast) in an upstairs bedroom feeding him. Thankfully I have awesome in-laws and they warmed up my plate when they heard me coming down, and Adam took Cooper so I could enjoy some delicious, much needed breakfast.

We never made it back to my parent's in between breakfast and dinner, since Cooper was being fussy and finally fell asleep in my arms when we were getting ready to leave. We got to take some nice pictures in the meantime, though. Once we got closer to dinner, we changed Coop into his adorable little outfit. Adam & I took turns holding him while eating, until he eventually passed out in his rocker.

The Easter Bunny was certainly very generous this year, as Cooper received not one, but FOUR Easter baskets, all filled with awesome goodies.

We got Cooper's Easter basket (white basket with blue/white polka dot embroidered cover) from an awesome Etsy shop, B&B Designs. We filled it with two books (Shel Silverstein's Where The Sidewalk Ends, and Pat The Bunny), and filled a bunch of large plastic eggs (some had little duck faces and feet and others were bright colors... So cute!) with onesies. bibs, and pacies.

All in all it was a wonderful day, but man did we all sleep well that night!

Cooper's first week home!

This first week home with Cooper has kind of been a blur. Nursing every 2 1/2-3 hours.. for an hour every time has (literally) drained me. We typically fall asleep in our rocking chair together in between nighttime feedings. Taking a shower, putting on make-up, let alone getting things done around he house seem to be impossible these days. Adam has taken this whole week off of work.. which has been a godsend. He's went to go get us lunch everyday, made runs to the baby store for miscellaneous items, taken Cooper while I pee.. you know.. all the little things. But, That will be coming to an end next week as he will be going back to work, and it will be me and little man alone all day!

We are looking forward to spending Easter with our families this weekend. We have breakfast at Adam's grand parent's house, then hopefully making it back to my parent's house to see my family, and then off to Adam's parents for dinner. We'll see how late we are getting to breakfast.. as it will be our first outing with Cooper. Wish us luck!

Welcome Home Cooper James!

We finally got to leave the hospital on Tuesday, which was awesome. Baby Cooper got to take his first car ride, which was slightly terrifying. We were greeted by this awesome sign that my parent's had set up for us, and after a nice (non-hospital) shower and some rest we went outside to get some fresh air. Being stuck in a hospital for four days is bad for the soul. Even though it did snow the day after Cooper was born; Welcome to Chicago, baby.

Waiting to be discharged!

First car ride!

Oh how I love his little monkey hat!

(Disclaimer: We kept a light blanket over him when we weren't taking pictures so he wouldn't be in the sun too much, even though it was in the low 70s)

Hanging at the hospital

Well, since I had to have my lovely C-section, which ultimately wasn't too horrible (more to come on that in a later post), we had to stay in the hospital for four days. Let me tell you, being a patient in the hospital is a totally different story than being the health professional. The food was actually pretty good, and the nurses/staff were amazing, but I couldn't wait to go home.

Here at some of our little moments from our stay.
